Tips to make the most of your time getting from the Oslo Airport to Oslo City Center. When you need to hit the ground running, taking advantage of public transportation; Train, Trams and Buses will help you get you where you need to go. Below I share our brief tool kit on how to use public transportation in Oslo.

Not Just a Shameless Plug – Ruter Norway is Ah-mazing.
I wasn’t sure where to start – rent a car? Take an Uber? It’s quite the distance from the Oslo Airport Gardermoen to Oslo City Center Sentrum. Landing at Noon, I know I would be to tired to drive. In addition, my navigator would fall asleep as soon as she sat down (sorry, Mom). Uber looked pretty expensive. It was February, we wouldn’t have much daylight.
Cue sparkly music. I found the Ruter.no app>> This one stop plan, and purchase app, made transportation in Oslo a breeze. Need a timetable for the next train from Gardermoen Airport to Sentrum – no problem, here’s a Vy Train leaving in 10 min. You want to buy your ticket? The app manages that, too. Take a look at the route map in my screen shots below.

The Ruter App really made transportation a breeze. You are able to book an Oslo bus, tram or train. The majority of our afternoon was spent on the Tram and we used the bus to reach areas off of the main line. To note, I was traveling with a senior, it was imperative to prioritized minimal walking distances. Again, the Ruter app was amazingly helpful to calculating the walking times so we knew what to expect.
